This is too funny not to include in my blog.

These are some notes Melissa sent us this morning to prepare us for our trip to Chile in a few days.

They came from far deeper roots and have a lot more history and culture
20 years nehind Australia (I think this might be 2000?? Maybe?)
It takes generations to change attitudes
but they DON'T want to be western
Buses go on strike all the time
Toilets don't have seats sometimes and they are dirty and wet floors
The roads aren't straight and make no sense
The taxis don't have seat belts
Lack of service everywhere
Systems that don't make sense and are inefficient
Roads are in bad shape
Drivers don't use indicators
Drivers change lanes without warning
Drivers exit round abouts from inside lane
Taxis and cars stop in the middle of the traffic
Use too many plastic bags
Never have money change
People make up answers when they don't know the answer
Never believe one person. Always ask others.
You will get hassled to buy things anywhere poor. Aguas Calientes restaurants, Cusco restaurants, La Vega,
Always carry small change for tipping
Use big notes whenever you can (ie big shopping centers.. always try big notes first, so you can get smaller change)
Restaurants always run out of food, never have things on the menu
Very rare to find a salad

BTW: these are all things you are NOT allowed to complain about. In fact, there will be lots of things you might want to complain about, but remember: I can't change it, so don't complain about it to me. and the people at the top, don't care about changing things either, so don't complain that they should.
